Day 37

Standing Firm in Truth at the Feet of Mā Devī

There is a subtle tendency within us to adjust ourselves according to situations. When circumstances become difficult, or when there is pressure from outside, the mind begins to look for easier ways. We feel that bending a little, hiding something, or moving away from what is right may help us avoid discomfort. In those moments, clarity becomes less important than convenience. But slowly, this creates a weakness within, we begin to move away from our own understanding. The heart, in its simplicity, is not seeking comfort, it longs to remain aligned with what is true. When this is understood, even briefly, a quiet strength begins to arise within.

That firmness begins the moment we come to the feet of Mā Devī.

To live at Her feet is to gently recognise that truth does not depend on outer situations. It remains what it is, whether it is convenient or not. Instead of trying to always express truth outwardly, we can begin with something simpler, remaining free from falsehood. Slowly, as understanding deepens, we begin to see that this itself requires awareness and strength. When this is seen clearly, even briefly, something within begins to stabilise. A quiet integrity begins to take root, without force.

The difficulty we experience does not come from truth itself, but from our fear of consequence. We worry about loss, about what others may think, about how situations may change. In that fear, we begin to compromise. Even when we know what is right, we step away from it. This is where weakness arises, not because truth is difficult, but because we do not remain with it. And each time we break our own understanding, something within becomes less steady.

But when we turn towards Mā Devī, something begins to shift within. We start to see that remaining true is itself a form of strength. There is a quiet recognition: “Let me not go against what I know is right.” In that understanding, the need to adjust begins to reduce. We may not always be able to express everything outwardly, but inwardly, we remain clear. This itself brings stability.

In the spirit of the teachings, what matters is not outward perfection, but inner alignment. When everything is seen as Her prasāda, even difficult situations become opportunities to remain firm. The heart slowly begins to understand: “I am not here to please every situation… I am here to remain at Her feet.” This understanding brings a deep strength within. It allows us to stand quietly in truth, without agitation.

Our restlessness continues when we keep breaking our own resolve. We take a stand, and then we leave it when tested. But when we begin to hold on, even gently, this pattern begins to change. What we understand once begins to stay. Slowly, a quiet confidence begins to arise. This confidence is not loud; it is steady and grounded.

To live like this does not require becoming rigid, it requires remaining sincere. We continue to live, act, and respond as needed. But inwardly, we do not abandon what is right. Slowly, a quiet strength begins to arise, not forced, but natural. A strength that remains even in difficulty, a strength that quietly supports us through every experience.

Today’s Sādhanā — Remaining True Within: Today, gently notice moments where you feel the urge to adjust or bend the truth. In those moments, pause and turn within. Ask softly, “Can I remain free from falsehood here?” Let this question bring clarity. You do not need to force expression, just remain inwardly aligned. At least a few times during the day, close your eyes briefly and feel, “I am at the feet of Mā Devī. Let me remain true within.” Do not force this feeling, just return to it gently.

Inner Bhāva: Do not try to prove truth outwardly; remain aligned inwardly. Let your actions be guided by clarity, not by pressure. Offer both courage and hesitation at Her feet. Even if you waver, return gently. Each return deepens your strength.

Reflection for Today: Did I remain true within today, or did I move away from what I understand at the feet of Mā Devī?

Gentle Reminder: Come back to Her feet again and again, not by forcing expression, but by staying aligned within. What is held sincerely becomes strength, and in that firmness, peace becomes natural.

Mantra for the Day: Oṁ Kulayoginyai Namaḥ
