Using Time Wisely at the Feet of Śrī Kṛṣṇa
There is a constant movement in life that we rarely notice fully, time is always passing. Every moment that comes, quietly moves away, whether we are aware of it or not. We spend our days engaged in many things, some meaningful and some unnecessary. Often, small distractions, idle habits, and careless actions fill our time without us realising their cost. They may seem harmless in the moment, but slowly, something valuable is being lost. The heart, in its simplicity, is not meant to live in forgetfulness, it longs to live with awareness, to value each moment as it comes. When this awareness is present, even ordinary moments begin to feel meaningful.
That awareness begins the moment we come to the feet of Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
To live at His feet is to gently recognise the value of time. Unlike anything else in life, time cannot be stored, saved, or brought back. What has passed is gone completely. We may regain wealth, rebuild situations, or restore relationships, but time never returns. Slowly, as understanding deepens, we begin to see that every moment carries importance. When this is seen clearly, even briefly, something within becomes attentive. A quiet alertness begins to guide how we live.
The carelessness we experience does not come from lack of time, but from not recognising its value. We move through the day without noticing how it is being spent. Hours pass in small, unnecessary engagements, and we feel there is still time left. But this continues until we begin to feel that something has slipped away. In this way, time moves quietly, and with it, our opportunity. And once it passes, it leaves behind either clarity or regret.
But when we turn towards Śrī Kṛṣṇa, something begins to shift within. We start to see that time is not just passing; it is being given. Each moment is an opportunity to live with awareness, to act rightly, and to grow inwardly. Even while performing daily duties, we can remain connected. There is a quiet recognition: “This moment also matters.” In that understanding, life becomes more meaningful. A sense of responsibility arises, not as pressure, but as clarity.
In the spirit of the teachings, what is valuable is not how much time we have, but how we use it. When everything is seen as His prasāda, even simple actions carry depth. The heart slowly begins to understand: “I am not here to pass time… I am here to use it with sincerity.” This understanding brings a natural discipline without force. It brings care into even the smallest actions.
Our restlessness increases when time is spent without awareness. We may feel engaged, yet something within remains unsatisfied. But when we begin to use time carefully, even in small ways, a quiet clarity begins to arise. Actions become purposeful, and the mind becomes lighter. Slowly, the habit of wasting time begins to reduce.
To live like this does not require doing something extraordinary, it requires attentiveness. We continue to live, work, and rest as before. But inwardly, we become more aware of how each moment is lived. Slowly, a quiet alignment begins to arise, not forced, but natural. An alignment that brings meaning to action, an alignment that quietly supports us through every experience.
Today’s Sādhanā — Living Each Moment with Awareness: Today, gently notice how your time is being spent. In those moments, pause and turn within. Ask softly, “Is this how I want to use this moment?” Let this question bring clarity. Before any action, inwardly say, “Śrī Kṛṣṇa, let this be meaningful.” Let your actions continue, but let your awareness remain present. At least a few times during the day, close your eyes briefly and feel, “I am at the feet of Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Let me not waste this moment.” Do not force this feeling, just return to it gently.
Inner Bhāva: Do not try to control time; simply become aware of it. Let each moment be lived with sincerity. Offer both your actions and your distractions at His feet. Even if you forget, return again. Each return deepens your awareness.
Reflection for Today: Did I use my time with awareness today, or did I let it pass without attention at the feet of Śrī Kṛṣṇa?
Gentle Reminder: Come back to His feet again and again, not by doing more, but by being present in what you do. Time is not ours to keep, but to use, and in that awareness, life becomes meaningful.
