Using What We Have at the Feet of Śrī Śiva
There is a quiet tendency within us to feel that something is still missing before we can truly move forward. We feel that with more knowledge, better circumstances, or greater strength, things would become easier and clearer. Until then, we remain in a kind of waiting. This creates a subtle pause within, a feeling that the present moment is not enough. Even when we have some understanding or clarity, we feel it is not sufficient. The heart, however, in its simplicity, is not waiting for more; it is ready to move with what is already present. It does not require perfection, only sincerity.
That readiness begins the moment we come to the feet of Śrī Śiva.
To live at His feet is to gently recognise that what we have right now is not lacking. The understanding we have, the situations we are in, and the abilities available to us are all part of what has been given. Nothing more is required for this moment. Slowly, as understanding deepens, we begin to see that growth does not depend on having more, it depends on using what is already here with awareness. When this is seen, even briefly, the tendency to wait begins to reduce. A quiet confidence begins to arise that this moment itself is enough for movement.
The difficulty we experience does not come from having less, but from not applying what we already know. We may understand that things are temporary, yet we continue to hold on to them. We may see that situations will change, yet we still become disturbed by them. In this way, knowledge remains at the level of thought, but does not become part of how we live. This creates a gap between what we know and what we experience. And in that gap, restlessness continues. But when we turn towards Śrī Śiva, something begins to shift within. We start to bring our understanding into daily life. We begin to observe more carefully, and slowly, our response changes. Situations may remain the same, but our involvement becomes lighter. There is a quiet steadiness that begins to arise, not forced, but natural. We begin to respond instead of reacting, and that itself brings a subtle peace.
In the spirit of the teachings, true understanding is not in knowing more, but in living what is known. When everything is seen as His prasāda, even ordinary situations become opportunities to remain aware. The heart slowly begins to understand: “I am not here to wait for better conditions… I am here to use what is already given.”
Our restlessness continues when we keep postponing our growth. We feel that something more is needed before we can live with clarity. But this “more” keeps shifting, and the movement never begins. When we begin to use what is already present, even in small ways, the direction becomes clear. The path does not need to be created; it begins to reveal itself.
To live like this does not require anything extraordinary, it requires a gentle honesty. We continue to live, act, and face situations as they come. But inwardly, we remain attentive to how we respond. Slowly, a quiet progress begins, not dramatic, but steady. A progress that comes from within, a progress that quietly supports us through every experience.
Today’s Sādhanā — Using What is Already Present: Today, gently notice where the mind feels that something is lacking. In those moments, pause and turn within. Ask softly, “Can I respond with what I already know?” Let this question guide you. Before any action, inwardly say, “Śrī Śiva, let me use what You have given.” Let your effort be simple and sincere. At least a few times during the day, close your eyes briefly and feel, “I am at the feet of Śrī Śiva. What I have is enough.” Do not force this feeling, just return to it gently.
Inner Bhāva: Do not wait for more to begin; let your understanding express itself now. Offer both your clarity and your confusion at His feet. Even if you forget, return again. Each return deepens your sincerity.
Reflection for Today: Did I wait for more today, or did I use what I already have at the feet of Śrī Śiva?
Gentle Reminder: Come back to His feet again and again, not by seeking more, but by using what is already here. Nothing is lacking, everything is His, and in that clarity, the path unfolds naturally.
